Projects
Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Below are the projects in which we are currently involved:

Alumni Basketball A game will be played between alumni who graduate in an odd year and those graduating in an even year. Stephen Maynard
Chester Kiwanis Hambletonian 5K Race 3.1 Mile race, the route is thru the streets of Chester. Proceeds benefit highschool scholarships, Chester Volunteer Ambulance Corps and various other community projects. Edward Szulwach
Emergency Room Bags Provide bags for families who have not had the chance to bring something for their children to keep them occupied while awaiting Emergency Room service. Carmella Clearwater
Father's Day Project Serve breakfast to the male residents. Possible sing-along and distribute carnations. Lawrence Neeb
Fish and Chips Dinner Dinner held in conjunction with the Presbyterian Church with proceed to benefit Food Pantry and Chester Projects. Next dinner is September 27, 2010 John Ravert
Great American Weekend Put up a tent during the Great American Weekend in Goshen and sell Philly steaks. Erle VanDeBogart
Halloween Parade The Halloween Parade is a parade that is sponsored by Kiwanis, the PTA and other organizations in Chester. Prizes are presented for best costumes. The children and adults start at the Battiato farm and parade through Chester ending at the Village of Chester Barn where refreshments are set up for the participants and the prizes given out. Inspire - Lily Bulbs This project works with the children. They plant bulbs to start the flowers and then replant them after they have been started. Lawrence Neeb
Inspire Phone-a-Thon Make phone calls to individuals requesting donations for the Inspire - a rehabilitation facility for disable individuals. Stephen Maynard
Kids Day Kiwanis has a Kid's day which invites parents to bring children to play games and run races. The children receive ribbons for First, Second and Third place. They are also served Hot Dogs and Ice Cream sundaes. The Chester School District partners with us to provide teachers and students to help run the games and work with the youngsters. The Town of Chester works with us to provide the equipment for the games and one of the Town Board members donates the ice cream for the sundaes. Carmella Clearwater
Mother's Day Project Serve breakfast to the female residents. There is usually a sing-a-long and we distribute flowers. Lawrence Neeb
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater The Karoke Crime Scene will be performed at the Jester Pub in the Castle on October 12, 2008. Dinner is a buffet. There is a cash bar. Our wacky group of paranormal investigators come together to try to determine if there are ghosts inhabiting the run-down Karoke bar. A Karaoke contest is held between two of the mortals and the two ghosts. Lots of fun and fellowship occurs in this event. Ed Stoddard

Obesity Project Marty Burns and Isabelle Walsh are conducting a community health fair on May 12th from 3 to 6 P M at the Senior center. Information has been obtained from the Orange County Department of Health for distribution as well as other professionals will be present to encourage people to learn about obesity and other health and welfare issues. We have planned this event as part of the Governor's Partner's Project for the 2009-10 year. Martha Burns

Rose Day Sell Roses to be delivered just before Thanksgiving. Proceeds go toward club projects. John Vero
Run/Walk Orange Children and Adults gather to run/walk a 1/5 mile track. The project is a weekly project. Edward Szulwach
Toyland Project We work with the Community during this project, asking people in the schools, churches and businesses to donate toys for children. These toys are then distributed to needy families. The Key Club helps to wrap the toys for the families. Marian Zangrillo
Yard Sale The yard sale has not been conducted in recent years. We do have some items which can help those in need. Richard Robillard
